Which nitrile glove do I need? A guide to Shield gloves

The range of Shield gloves is available in three different colours – adopting a traffic light system for straightforward selection of the glove type most appropriate for your task.  Each glove type is designed for a different type of hazard that would be present in your lab – general risks, biological risks and chemical risks. This traffic light system makes it easy for you to select the most appropriate glove at a glance.

 

EcoShield Gloves

 

  • A general purpose nitrile lab glove, designed to be environmentally friendly when compared with competitors. They feature a recycled cardboard outer box with minimal printing. Therefore the packaging is easier to recycle (the de-inking stage is the most polluting step). Also packaging is compact – 50% more gloves are packed into the same volume
  • A glove for general risks designed for labs requiring a basic level protection for a range of different tasks.
  • Approvals for chemical protection include those for permeation, performance and degradation – (approvals include ISO 374-1:2016+A1:2018 – Type B JKPT plus more)
  • Protection from micro-biological hazards (ISO 374-5:2016 for protection against virus biohazards and an AQL of 0.25)
  • 250mm length from cuff to finger tip

ShieldSkin Gloves

  • Protects the wearer against biological and chemical hazards
  • Available in lengths 260mm and 300mm. The 300mm length version is also available sterile (read more here)
  • Approvals for chemical protection include those for permeation, performance and degradation – (approvals include ISO 374-1:2016+A1:2018 – Type B JKPT plus more)
  • Also tested for permeation to potentially hazardous cancer chemotherapy drugs under conditions of continuous  contact  (ASTM D6978-05 (2019)).
  • Protection from micro-biological hazards (ISO 374-5:2016 for protection against virus biohazards and an AQL of 0.25)

SHIELDskin Chem Gloves

 

  • Gloves to protect the wearer against chemical hazards (to an enhanced level compared with SHIELDskin orange and ecoSHIELD – see the chemical compatibility chart). Also provides biological protection
  • Extensive approvals for chemical resistance (resistant to permeation for at least 30 minutes against 6 out of the 18 chemicals listed in ISO 374-1:2016+A1:2018 (tested according to EN 16523-1:2015+A1:2018.))
  • Protection from micro-biological hazards (conforms to ISO 374-5:2016 for protection against virus biohazards and an AQL of 0.25.
