Q: I work in food manufacturing and need a digital thermometer for quality control checks.
The environment in the factory can be high humidity, may cause the thermometer to be splashed with liquids and may mean people have to use the thermometer with wet hands.
What model would you recommend?
A: The Hanna Checktemp 1 would be ideal
For an environment where humidity, splashing and wet hands are going to be common, a thermometer with a waterproof casing should be chosen.
Hanna offer the Hanna Checktemp 1 which has a water resistant casing and a probe on a 1m long cable. The IP65 rading means it can be used in environments with high humidity or steam, right through to cold storage and is even suitable for use by staff with wet or damp hands.
It can read a wide range, from -50°C to +150°C with a resolution of 0.1°C. It also offers high accuracy of ±0.2°C from -30°C to +120°C
There are also additional features designed with fast paced food manufacturing in mind;
- simple operation
- an automatic shut-off to preserve battery life
- electronics that will work even down to -20°C
- clear error messages when the sensor is faulty
- a flexible cable for the sensor for hard to reach locations.
The compliance of the thermometer is also designed to suit food environments – it is tested and compliant with EN13485, the European standard for food thermometers, and it allows measurements to HACCP requirements.
