Seawater has an average salinity of 35 ppt = 35 parts per thousand (equivalent to 35,000ppm or 3.5%).
However the salt level does change depending on rainfall, evaporation, ice thawing or rivers, so the salinity can vary over areas, time or seasons.
Camlab can offer two handheld meters which quickly and directly measure salinity up to the high levels required for seawater.

For a fast and simple reading in % the Laqua Twin B-721 meter offers a small, pocket sized option. With a range from 0.1 – 10% by weight the meter can easily cover the seawater range.
It comes complete in a case with 2 calibration solutions so everything you need to start testing is included.

For a harder wearing meter or when you need to also measure other parameters, the Myron PoolPro offers a simple interface to quickly measure pH, TDS, conductivity, ORP, temperature and salinity in one unit.
Salt readings are possible from 0-9999 ppm and 10 – 200 ppt in 5 autoranges. The meter also allows up to 100 date and time stamped readings to be stored for recall.
