Eppendorf purity grades

Eppendorf have 7 purity grade depending on what consumable you require for your experiment. These grades are for their tips, plates and tubes. Eppendorf are a premium company that want consumables of highest quality and purity to help people achieve precise and accurate results, as well as to help make experiments more reproducible. They achieve this by:

  • Manufacturing using the purest raw materials
  • Fully automatic production in clean rooms
  • Quality and functional checks of all lots
  • Continuous quality assurance throughout the entire production process

Eppendorf quality purity grade

Eppendorf quality relates to reliable, easy-to-handle consumables. These consumables are made from high-quality base materials and are permanently checked throughout the production process. Eppendorf quality consumables are ideal for many.

Eppendorf sterile purity grade

Eppendorf sterile purity grade sterile means that the consumables are sterilised by irradiation or ethylene oxide gassing. The main benefits of these sterile consumables are:

  • each lot comes with a lot-specific certificate
  • they are sterilised using aseptic techniques to eliminate living organisms
  • each lot is tested for the absence of endotoxins to show they are pyrogen free - this is important for pharmacology and medical research
  • the consumables fulfil the quality standards and requirements for wetting behaviour, liquid tightness, accuracy, chemical resistance etc

Eppendorf PCR clean purity grade

PCR clean is achieved by not letting contamination develop, so these consumables are manufactured under clean-room conditions. These consumables are best used for purification of nucleic acids for example, but can also be used for storage and analysis of sensitive nucleic acid-containing samples. The main benefits are:

  • there are lot-specific certificates
  • they are DNase and RNase free
  • there are no contaminating nucleic acids, normally human DNA which can infiltrate the plastics during the process
  • no PCR inhibitors within the consumables
  • the consumables fulfil the quality standards and requirements for wetting behaviour, liquid tightness, accuracy, chemical resistance etc

PCR clean and sterile

These consumables have both PCR clean and sterile properties. For more information on the purity grades please see the paragraphs above. There is still lot-specific certificates available for these consumables.

Forensic DNA grade

Forensic DNA grade consumables were manufactured as human DNA contamination is a main concern in DNA analysis. The main benefits of these consumables are:

  • ISO18385 is implemented to further minimise the risk of DNA contamination
  • these consumables meet the specific manufacturing requirements for products used in collection, storage and analysis of biological material for forensic use
  • there are lot-specific certificates
  • these are DNase, RNase, PCR inhibitor, and human DNA free

Eppendorf Biopur

The Biopur consumables were made to meet the highest of demands within the medical, pharmaceutical and food industries but is also compatible within molecular biology and cell technology. The main benefits of these are:

  • these consumables are guaranteed to be sterile (by irradiation or ethylene oxide gassing) and free of pyrogens, RNases, DNases, DNA, ATP, and PCR inhibitors. These are also free of human and bacterial DNA
  • safety guaranteed, even for sophisticated applications
  • reducing costs - less inconclusive results, usually expensive tests are no longer necessary
"ready for use" which reduces labour and time required
  • they are individually blistered and are 'micro batched' in re-sealable boxes to provide effective protection against soiling or contamination
  • lot-specific certificates

PCR clean and protein free

These consumables are best for quantification and subsequent analysis of genetic material and proteins. These consumables are:

  • DNase and RNase free
  • free of contaminating nucleic acids (human DNA)
  • free of PCR inhibitors
  • free of proteins and unspecific signals or reactions due to protein contamination
  • the consumables fulfil the quality standards and requirements for wetting behaviour, liquid tightness, accuracy, chemical resistance etc
  • lot-specific certificates
