samples from a boat or off a bridge or Jetty.
How does the open/close on the sampler work?
The open/close function is in 2 parts. Firstly the lid fits tightly into the sampler body and contains 2 securing rails on the inseide of the lid. This fits over 2 securing screws on the inside of the sampler and a simple twist tightens the lid in position. There is a ring of foam on the lid to seal the sampler
The second part is the seal for the inlet holes on the lid. These are attached by fine rope to the spring attachment which is securely fastened to the rope. The spring acts as a open mechanism which when you are the required depth requires a short sharp tug on the rope to pop off the sealing plugs. These can be seen in the image on our website.

The water samplers are recommended for use upto a maximum depth of 60m.
So is the supplied rope notched or marked for depth?
The rope is not marked in any way. This rope is kink resisitant nylon based rope with a strong swivel clip at one end to secure the sampler. In order to measure you would have to mark the rope at 1m intervals yourself.
